Roya Foundation was founded in the United States in 2015 for the purpose of providing means towards improving the lives of underprivileged and under-served children.By having obtained permission from Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Roya Foundation intends to build schools in underserved areas of Iran. The main purpose is to help provide the children with well-equipped, safe, and nurturing educational environment enabling them to thrive as healthy and productive adults.
Roya Foundation (International Alliance To Assist Children) was established in the honor and memory of Roya Forouzesh who was diagnosed with Multi Myeloma cancer on September 2006 and died after a 2-year battle, on July 17, 2008, at the young age of 46.
A Multiple Myeloma diagnosis, sometimes called bone marrow cancer, affects plasma cells in the bone. It may cause symptoms such as bone pain, unexplained fractures, fatigue, and other symptoms.
Ms. Roya had always been active in the community and interested in serving others. After a Bachelor’s degree in Business and having worked in Silicon Valley, She decided to immerse herself in her passion, humanitarian work and helping children living in poverty specially those in need of medical assistance. It was her diagnosis and painful journey that lead to the establishment of Roya Foundation; A promise that Ms. Roya’s sister, Mitra, made to her on the night of her passing.
The Roya Foundation has a calling to serve the underserved. The passion of its founders, Roya and Mitra, is to provide educational and medical assistance to indigent children globally who may otherwise lack access to basic necessities. To achieve this calling, the foundation, has set out to build schools, cancer treatment centers, and hospitals while also supporting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth of these children by providing them with food, clothing, medicine and educational supplies and equipment.
